July 13, 2018. To continuously champion student empowerment as the school year opened last June, LCC Silvercrest Senior High School held its third annual Supreme Student Government (SSG) Elections with Cris Paulo Sabillo, a Grade 12 student from the HUMMS (Humanities and Social Sciences) winning the presidency with 924 votes lead against Eldered Jed Mata (Grade 12, General Academic Strand (GAS).
Two official parties composed of representatives from different strands were formed, namely, Leaders of Development and Integrity (LODI) and Tunay na Maasahan, Andyan kung kailangan, Pag inyong tinawagan, Handa kang tulungan(TAPH) parties.
Prior to the elections and through the concerted efforts of the outgoing officers led by the Tricia Diane Ona (President) and under the supervision of Mr. Lino Balantac, SSG Adviser, the department mounted a MIting de Avance anchored on the candidates presenting and explaining their platforms to the entire studentry. This was held held at the Carlos Mojares Gymnasium last July 12.
On the election day itself, it was the members of the TAPH party who dominated, clinching 11 of the 19 posts.
in an interview with Mr. Balantac, he stated that he hopes and expects that this new batch of officers will be able to exceed what the previous SSG administration has done and that the officers shall be able to elicit the support of the entire student population and addressing a number of campus concerns such as discipline and cleanliness. President-elect Sabillo pledged to make good of the trust that his fellow students has given him and the rest of the officers.
Apart from the SSG Officers, Class and Strand Officers were also elected earlier that week to further strengthen student responsibility, accountability, and involvement in campus concerns.
