Senior High Mentors and Students Join Multi-sectoral Coastal Clean-up

July 27, 2019. In support of the multi-sectoral environmental program initiated by Big Ben - Lipa City entitled Clean Sweep 2019, LCC Silvercrest Senior High School Department teacher and student representatives trooped to Taal Lake coastal area at Balete, Batangas for a clean-up drive. Representing the school were Mr. Eric Masupil (Principal), Strand Coordinators Ms.Joan Natividad (ABM and GAS), Mr. Froilan Salonga (HE and ICT), Ms. Kriselyn Acosta (HUMSS), and Ms. Kysia Perono (STEM), Faculty Members Ms. Mery Alfon, Mr. Gilbert Lucero, and Mr. Nardito Quiñones, and the Supreme Student Government Officers.
Mr. Romer Tenorio, Big Ben’s Marketing Manager, opened up the event through a Prayer followed by an Orientation where he explained the significance of the annual clean-up drive sponsored by the company. He likewise gave instructions on how to pick up and segregate the trash that may be found in the area; after which, hand gloves, sacks, shovels, and other cleaning materials were distributed to the volunteers. The clean-up lasted for over four hours and was participated in by various school representatives within the city as well as government- and non-government organizations and the people and local officials of Barangay Balete.
The clean-up drive closed through a short program during which, the local government officials thanked the organizers and participants. They likewise promised to strictly monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the coastal area within their jurisdiction not only for environmental reasons but to also prop up sustainable tourism and improved livelihood of the people in the community.
