The LRC aims to:
- Instruct students in the effective and efficient use of the LRC and its materials;
- Support the school's educational programs by providing appropriate educational materials and services to both faculty and students;
- Deliver quality services by collecting and organizing books and other materials such as periodicals, vertical files and audio-visual or A-V materials relevant to the curricular programs and organizing them for quick access;
- Improve access to the collection through its computerized bibliographical services;
- Keep pace with the trends brought by information technology through its Internet facilities;
- Provide physical facilities and equipment that will make possible the most effective use of A-V materials in coordination with the staff assigned at the A-V materials and Storage Room; and
- Coordinate with other libraries in the community.
SERVICES
To accomplish the specific objectives earlier mentioned, Lipa City Colleges Learning Resource Center offers the following services:
- Orientation and Bibliographic Instruction
The Librarians conduct formal and informal orientation for all first year and transferees every start of the school year to acquaint and assist new users regarding library facilities and services. In depth instruction in the use of information resources and search strategies (use of the card catalog and the Online Public Access Catalog or OPAC) are also provided.
- On-line Periodical is available.
- Technical Services
After the Selection and Acquisition Process, print and non-print materials are organized for quick access. Prior to its circulation, the technical staff analyzes the contents of the book and assigns the call number. The process is called cataloging and classification. LRC's support staffs provide printed catalog cards for books and printed index to periodicals. They are in-charge also of encoding the information for computerized access through the Online Public Access Catalog or OPAC. Other tasks include printing LRC reports, statistics, new acquisition list, processing other documents related to LRC's daily activities.
- Reference or Information Service
Library work directly concerned with assistance to users in securing information and in using library resources.
- Audio-Visual Services
Audio-visual materials supplement the printed collection. However, for the viewing and listening facilities for the whole class, faculty member may have to coordinate with the General Services Office for the use of equipment and room.
Preview of new A-V materials can be done by the faculty members at the Library.
- Internet Services
Online information can be accessed and retrieved by using the Internet section or through Wi-Fi.
- Referral Services
The researcher is referred to other libraries when the information needed is not available at the LRC. A request letter addressed to the Chief Librarian of the Library to be visited is provided upon request indicating the names of the researchers and their topic of research. LCC reciprocates this service by accommodating researchers from other institutions. Request for referral from the Technical Section must be accomplished by the students/ faculty members at least two day prior to the date of visit.
- Photocopying Services
A photocopying machine is available inside the campus. However, Intellectual Property Rights Code (IPRC) prohibits photocopying the whole book. To save time in copying the needed information from a book, magazine or clippings, LRC allows users to photocopy upon request in the Circulation Counter.
- Library Visitors (Outside Researchers)
Researchers from other schools are accepted every Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm except EXAMINATION WEEK, SEMESTRAL BREAK and SUMMER. Researchers should provide a letter of request from their librarian to be able to access LRC's materials.
Reminders for outside researchers:
- Referral letter should be signed by Chief Librarian or Librarian - in - charge.
- Researchers should bring their school ID for proper identification.
- Minimum of 5 students per school at a time will be accommodated.
- Institutions that are not a member of NOCEI will have a research fee of Php50.00.
