OBJECTIVES
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Lipa City Colleges Health Services aims to achieve optimal health and well-being of all students and employees of the institution for better learning. This is achieved through the health services it offers.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
- To provide students and employees with the best and latest in healthcare practice in terms of:
- Emergency health care,
- Primary health care and
- Referrals
- To improve student's health by strengthening CCSHP for a higher level of competence
- To provide academic excellence through the implementation of significant health practices
- To assist families and children in preventing diseases, promoting and protecting health, and minimizing the complications of health problems of school-age children.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES
- Annual Medical and Dental Examination
Medical and dental forms are given to students to be filled up and signed through the class advisers or teachers-in-charge.
Parents or Guardian of Pre-school, elementary and high school students accomplish the medical and forms affixing their signature and consent for medical and dental management.
College students accomplish the medical and form affixing their signature and consent for medical and dental management.
Filled up medical and dental forms are retrieved.
Medical and dental examinations are scheduled for each class.
School nurse take the student's vital signs and school physician and school dentist perform the medical and dental examination.
A reply letter is sent to parents/ guardian indicating that a routine medical and dental examination was done and the corresponding findings whether the student has normal physical and dental findings, needs eye or ear check-up or needs further evaluation and management.
- Medical and Dental Consultation
Students brought to the clinic with medical and dental complaints such as fever, headache, abdominal pain, toothache etc. follow the procedure below:
Student is assessed by the health personnel.
First aid management is given to the student-patient.
Student-patient is reassessed if able to return to class, otherwise parents/ guardians are called to fetched the student-patient.
Student-patient stays in the clinic while waiting for the parents/ guardians. The latter is advised if there is need for further evaluation and management through laboratory requests, medications needed or referral to a specialist.
Student-patient and their parents/guardians are advised as well on the date to return to class and are given medical certificates for the consultation.
Students brought to the clinic with medical conditions such as trauma follow the procedure below:
Student is assessed by the health personnel.
First aid management is given to the student-patient.
Student-patient is reassessed. If the injury cannot be treated in the clinic setting, the student-patient is sent to the preferred hospital assisted by the school nurse.
Parents/ Guardians of the student-patient are contacted and informed. Upon arrival of parents/guardians to hospital where student-patient is brought, nurse informs them of the situation and leaves the medical care to the preferred attending physician.
Student-patient is asked to request for a medical certificate from the attending physician and to submit it on the day of return to class.
THE COMPREHENSIVE COORDINATED SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAM (CCSHP)
COMPONENTS:
- Health Education This is a planned, sequential pre-school to college curriculum that addresses the physical, mental, emotional and social dimensions of health.
- Physical Education This is a planned sequential preschool to college curriculum that provides cognitive content and learning experiences in a variety of activity areas such as basic movement skills, physical fitness, rhythms and dance, games team, dual and individual sports, tumbling and gymnastics and aquatics.
- Health Services These are services provided for students to appraise, protect, and promote health through the following:
- Health Appraisal
- Health Prevention
- Health Remediation
- Nutrition Services These refer to access to a variety of nutritious and appealing meals that accommodate the health and nutrition needs of students.
- Health Promotion for Staff These are opportunities for school staff (teaching and non-teaching personnel) to improve their health status through:
- Health assessments through pre-employment, periodic and special examinations
- Health education by provision of IEC on the updates on diseases like H1N1 Influenza and cervical cancer
- Health-related fitness activities such as "LCC Employees Wellness Program"
- Health programs mandated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)

- Counseling and Psychological Services These are services provided to improve student's mental, emotional, and social health.
- Healthy School Environment This refers to the physical and aesthetic surroundings and the psychosocial climate and culture of the school.
- Parent/Community Involvement This is an integrated school, parent and community approach for enhancing the health and well-being of students.
